Thrift Road Residence
Located in the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu, the project consists of a new single family residence, which replaced the previous structure lost to the Woolsey Fire. The strategy was to design a new home on the existing developed pad which embraced the rural setting while incorporating fire resistant materials and methods along with a modern influence. The residence plays peekaboo with the existing mature oak trees while providing near and far view opportunities of the property and beyond. To provide added defense to any future fire potential, the framework of the building was first clad with a fire protection board and skinned with an assemblage of prefinished metal wall panels, stone, cement plaster, pre-finished metal clad windows/doors and capped with a prefinished metal roof.
